PRAWN KATSU CURRY – HOW TO MAKE – えびフライカレー

One of my ultimate favourite Japanese comfort dishes.
Prawn Katsu: Crispy and light breadcrumbs on the outside of plump and juicy prawns. Served with an aromatic, classic Japanese curry sauce and fluffy white rice.
Please try this at home, its so easy to make and the whole family will love it!!!!!

OCADO online supermarket – Japanese products

INGREDIENTS

for the curry (3-5 portions depending on appetite) :
medium onion x 1/2
butter x 25g
instant curry mix x 92g
water x 720ml

for the prawns (3 pieces):
panko breadcrumbs x 50g
prawns x 3
salt and white pepper – to taste
plain flour x 50g
large egg x 1

INSTRUCTIONS ON HOW TO COOK RICE IN A POT

– Follow the instructions in the video on how to wash rice
or if using musenmai rice, there’s no need to wash
– Once the rice is washed and drained, place into a heavy-bottom pot with a tight fitted lid.
– For 3 cups of rice (as shown in this video) approx. 540 grams, use 600ml of water.
– Soak the rice in the water for at least 30 minutes before cooking
– Close the lid and bring to a boil on a medium heat
– Once boiling, turn the heat to a low and cook for approx 12-14 minutes or until water has disappeared (with the lid on)
– Remove from the heat source and allow to steam cook for 10 minutes with the lid on

S & B Golden curry medium / hot 100g

Yutaka Panko Breadcrumbs 180g

Nishiki rice Musenmai 1kg

Yutaka Fukujinzuke mixed vegetable Japanese pickles

Asahi Super dry 4 x 330ml
